RM ‘Virtual World’ trailer

The video trailer was intended to create a sense of intrigue and curiosity encouraging visits to RM’s Virtual World website. The website involves a game where visitors can solve a mystery by solving a series of intellectually challenging puzzles.

Me and Craig concepted, filmed, edited and treated the footage for the movie in-house using our designer Ken as the actor. To achieve the desired effect we used After Effects, 3D modelling and music created in-house by myself. This enabled us to turn round the project very swiftly on a tiny budget.

The movie was hosted on a web page, with options to download. It was distributed to RM employees, and they were encouraged to provide some initial momentum for the campaign by sending it out to their personal network of contacts.

After the first two weeks the page had 381 unique visits (an average of 27 per day) and 157 downloads (as Windows Media and Quicktime movies). This of course does not include the number of people that have been forwarded the movies themselves as opposed to the link to the web page.

Working in conjunction with an interactive MPU banner, the movie has contributed to a surge in site visits that coincide directly with its release. For the month previous to the campaign RM’s site had 407 visitors (14.5 per day). For the first week of the campaign they received 577 unique visitors with a daily average of 82.5.
